The Planning Stage
The beginning process of building a new structure is not typically really quick. Believe it or not, the first item to look at is whether it is possible to build the building that you have in mind. Does the county or city that you are in allow you to build a structure of its kind? There are sometimes zoning restrictions. What about space? It can’t be too close to a property line, so it is wise to take out a measuring tape and measure and stake it out. If it is an addition to an existing structure, like an attached garage or extension of an existing one, that will need to be investigated at this time. Have you put any thought into whether you would prefer a wood or metal building. We can give you a run down on the benefits of lumber and metal and the prices associated with it.
Budgeting and Financing
The second thing necessary is coming up with a realistic budget for the project. This may require talking to a contractor to get a rough estimate on costs with what you have in mind. After that if financing is required, speaking to your local bank or mortgage companies is the best bet for coming up with the funds.
The Design Stage
The design stage is where our company is at an entirely different level than our competitors. We will first discuss all of the “must-haves” and minimum requirements that you are looking for and then move on to the features that will improve the function and appearance of the finished building. Once the design has been determined we will send it to a draftsman and go back and forth until the final design has been determined.
Material Selection
Following the design, we then pick all the materials for the building. We typically prefer that it is all picked before starting the project so there are no hold-ups waiting on choices and materials. Our designers will assist as requested with this process to ensure the finished product comes out as pictured.
Constructing The Building
Constructing the actual building is actually the easy part. We have been doing this for years and our experienced tradesmen are equipped with quality tools and equipment and love their jobs. Depending on the extent of the project we will do walk-throughs at different milestones to ensure that the contractor and owner are on the same page. When the building is complete we will do a final walk-through to highlight deficiencies and get them cleared up.
